TAIPEI (TVBS News) — In Taiwan, retailers that carry the Swiss chocolate brand Toblerone are seeking more information as the chocolate faced food safety concerns after potential plastic contaminants were discovered in its products in Hong Kong, according to reports on Monday (Jan. 22).
Contact attempts made after working hours to the company that imports the chocolates have yet to obtain a response.
The problematic product under the Toblerone brand is the 'Milk Chocolate with Honey and Almond Nougat.' This batch, identified by OOY4233553, weighs 100 grams and is best before Dec. 1, 2024.
Hong Kong's Centre for Food Safety, under the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department, has received notifications about the issue and is conducting subsequent investigations.
Hong Kong's importers and distributors have already halted the sale of this batch of products and have initiated a recall operation, responding actively to the situation.
