TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Kuomintang's (KMT) presidential candidate, Hou Yu-ih, pledged on Saturday (Dec. 30) to take legal action against anyone who continues to defame or disrespect his family regarding ongoing allegations concerning their real estate holdings.
As the presidential candidates' debate approaches, the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) persists in its criticism of Hou's family's rental apartments and the Xinzhuang land case, making it a focal point in the election campaign.
During a press conference, Hou, a former criminal police officer, stressed his regular absence from home due to work, highlighting his wife's responsibilities for household and childcare duties.
Hou accused the DPP of resurrecting a five-year-old issue and using derogatory language. According to Hou, the family apartments and Xinzhuang land were inherited from his wife's parental family.
Expressing outrage at the DPP's attempt to tarnish his family's reputation, Hou viewed it as a ruthless electoral strategy.
Hou firmly conveyed his discontent with the DPP's malicious tactics and announced his intention to seek legal recourse to protect his family from harm.
