TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taipei Mayor Chiang Wan-an celebrated his birthday on Tuesday (Dec. 26) by momentarily stepping away from his public duties for a crucial cause: supporting legislative candidate Lai Shyh-bao.
Even though Chiang had no official tasks for the day, he chose to accompany Lai in a campaign in Wenshan District, signifying the approaching elections' importance.
The event was marked with merry and festive spirit as attendees and the public sang the Happy Birthday song for the mayor.
Surprisingly, Chiang's birthday wish wasn't even remotely politically tied. The busy mayor aspires for a humble treat – to share a bowl of instant noodles with his family and fall asleep with his two youngest children.
Juggling between political duties and familial obligations can put politicians in a quandary, a dilemma highlighted by Chiang's wish. Regrettably, he admits finding adequate time to devote to his family is a challenging feat.
In alignment with his political mission, though, Chiang shared another wish — an optimistic hope for a strong electoral victory for himself and his team.
Additionally, he envisages a successful election rampage for all Kuomintang (KMT) legislative candidates in Taipei City.
