TAICHUNG (TVBS News) — The China Medical University clarified on Monday (Dec. 18) that rumors regarding the possible discontinuation of its Department of Chinese Pharmaceutical Sciences and Chinese Medicine Resources' enrollment are inaccurate.
The university issued a statement announcing that they are currently discussing the expansion and adjustment of departments and have already received approval from the Ministry of Education to establish a new Department of Medical Informatics in 2024.
The university is considering the future integration of multiple departments into a single college entity to cultivate talent with expertise in both traditional Chinese medicine knowledge and modern biotechnology research and development of herbal medicines.
According to the university's website, the Department of Chinese Pharmaceutical Sciences and Chinese Medicine Resources is the first and only academic department in Taiwan dedicated to Chinese medicine, and it specializes in courses that combine the expertise of Chinese medicine with biotechnology.
