TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Keelung Tower and the Xiner Air-raid Shelter are set to officially open on Saturday (Dec. 16). Keelung Mayor George Hsieh confirmed that Keelung residents will enjoy free admission to the tower while considering a fee for tourists.
Visitors can ride the elevator to the top-floor observation deck at the tower, offering panoramic views of Keelung's harbor. The neighboring Xiner Air-raid Shelter will also welcome visitors for a scenic hike. The Keelung City Government aims to make both sites popular tourist attractions.
During the six-day trial run of Keelung Tower, the new landmark recorded an impressive turnout of 70,000 visitors.
