TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Minister of Labor (MOL) Hsu Ming-chun expressed optimism on Monday (Dec. 11) regarding the impending approval of the national minimum wage bill.
Before the 2023 WorldSkills Asia Competition award ceremony, Hsu addressed the media, highlighting that the Legislative Yuan is scheduled to vote on the bill the following day.
Despite a failed attempt to negotiate the draft's terms last Friday, related to the review committee's composition, deliberation indicators, research groups, and the exclusion of law-violating companies from government procurement, Hsu stressed the broad consensus on the necessity of a minimum wage law after years of discussions.
The proposed legislation aims to elevate the minimum wage's legal status, enhance the review mechanism, and clarify deliberation indicators, ultimately safeguarding workers' rights through regular wage reviews.
Hsu called for collaborative efforts among political parties to ensure the bill's passage by the upcoming vote.
