TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taiwan stock market showed fluctuations around the flatline of 17,360 points early Thursday (Dec. 7) morning after opening lower, following a downturn in the U.S. stock market at the previous closing.
The market leader in semiconductor foundry services, TSMC, climbed NT$3 in early trading to hit NT$573.
In the semiconductor sector, United Microelectronics Corporation (UMC) and Powerchip Semiconductor Manufacturing Co., Ltd. (PSMC) saw modest gains, while Vanguard International Semiconductor (VIS) surged 1.6%.
Other significant electronic stocks showed strength as well, with MediaTek advancing 1.4% to reach NT$940.
Cable stocks outperformed, with the sector's index rising over 1%, displaying robust momentum, while the rest of the sectors experienced slight increases and decreases.
