TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taiwan's Ministry of Health and Welfare(MOHW) on Wednesday (Dec. 6) addressed reports of an extramarital affair involving Secretary General Hsu Chao-cheng, expressing hopes that he would handle the matter appropriately.
Earlier in the day, Hsu took to Facebook to acknowledge his affair with a female subordinate, Chen, from the time he previously served as the Deputy Director General of the New Taipei City Government Health Department.
"I must apologize to my wife, both our families and my colleagues," Hsu wrote on Facebook. "From now on, I will stick to my duties and reflect deeply in hopes of earning forgiveness."
The affair came to light following a report by Mirror Media which revealed frequent interactions between Hsu and Ms. Chen, with colleagues having reported seeing them together watching movies and shopping.
Health and Welfare Deputy Minister Jih-Haw Chou reaffirmed that if any element of the affair pertains to official duties, the matter would be further investigated.
