TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Reflecting on the recent Asia Baseball Championship, veteran baseball coach and legislative candidate Tsai Ming-tang praised the resilience of Taipei Dome on Monday (Dec. 4).
The Taiwanese national team secured a 4-0 victory against South Korea in Sunday's championship game at the Dome, unaffected by the previous day's heavy rains. Tsai highlighted the event's success, attributing it to "the right time, place, and people."
Tsai commended the Taipei Dome, Taiwan's only international-grade indoor baseball stadium, for its performance, noting its weather-resistant features. Despite an eight-year delay and associated controversies, the venue demonstrated its capability by hosting the game successfully.
Criticizing politicians for obstructing infrastructure projects out of ignorance, Tsai pointed out the Dome's potential as a multi-purpose national landmark, benefiting from its location and accessibility.
He expressed personal pride as five players in the opening match were from Ku Pao Home Economics and Commercial High School, where he coaches. Tsai acknowledged a minor broadcasting delay and a small screen but confirmed no other issues with the Dome's facilities.
Tsai also stressed the importance of grassroots baseball, citing the completion of the Shuhong Baseball Field as a model initiative. He advocated for converting idle school properties into baseball fields to extend benefits to more students.
