YILAN (TVBS News) — The 2023 Winter Lanyang Hot Spring Season kicked off its highlight event on Sunday (Dec. 3) in Jiaoxi Township, drawing a festive crowd with its street parade carnival.
The week-long celebration, running through Sunday, features a hot spring gourmet fair, smaller street parades, and a gourmet travel expo.
Nearly 50 groups from local industries, communities, schools, and organizations in Yilan participated in the opening event, creating a lively atmosphere that attracted thousands of attendees.
The carnival parade included creative costumes and was led by a themed float, the Bloco Força Brazil Percussion band, the Lanyang Samba Dance troupe, and large robots.
The Guohua Junior High School Aboriginal Dance Group, comprised of vibrant indigenous students who excelled in dance competitions at both the county and national levels last year, was among the performing teams.
The Yilan County Government Business and Tourism Department has announced that the hot spring gourmet fair and more street parades are slated to continue until Dec. 10.
Enhancing the hot spring season's appeal, Tangweigou Hot Spring Park has installed a towering 6.5-meter 'Hot Spring Giant' illuminated decoration and a 12-meter-wide floral tunnel, which are lit every evening from 5:30 p.m. to 11 p.m.
These enchanting lights will dazzle visitors until February 25, 2024, ensuring that the warmth of the winter celebration extends into the colder months.
