TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The "2023 Taipei Xmas" event kicked off on Saturday (Dec. 2) and will run through Jan. 1, 2024, setting a new record for the number of festive installations, particularly in the Xinyi District, with 55 large-scale Christmas decorations and 12 pedestrian overpass illuminations.
The Taipei City Office of Commerce has orchestrated an extensive holiday collaboration, linking 15 major department store operators to create a dazzling display of over 80 Christmas decorations.
Taipei Mayor Chiang Wan-an remarked that this year's event has been expanded beyond previous iterations, and expressed hopes that Taipei's celebrations can become an iconic event in the future.
Meanwhile, a novel pop-up Christmas event has been introduced for the first time this year, consisting of 16 sessions spread across the three main event areas surrounding the decorative attractions, scheduled for every Friday through Sunday during the celebration period.
Residents and visitors flocking to the Xinyi District are being greeted by an impressive golden Christmas tree, which has quickly become a popular backdrop for photos and social media check-ins.
