TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Independent presidential candidate Terry Gou's campaign office spokesperson Chen Chia-yi affirmed on Thursday (Nov. 16) that the election coalition between Kuomintang (KMT) and Taiwan's People Party (TPP) does not preclude the latter's alliance with Gou.
"The 'Blue-White cooperation' does not exclude Gou's union with TPP's presidential contender Ko Wen-je," Chen made it clear that Gou's commitment to a political turnover in 2024 remains unswerved, claiming, "A lot can be discussed as these two sets are not mutually exclusive."
During a radio program, Chen added that Gou's campaign team aims to bring everyone to the table to communicate their goals, without any precondition. Unity, she stressed, is the sole formula for winning the presidential election.
Gou is pursuing this direction in response to a 65% mainstream public opinion hoping for the removal of the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP), said Chen.
Chen said that cooperation among opposition presidential candidates is the continued direction of effort prior to candidate registration at the Central Election Commission, which opens from Nov. 20 to Nov. 24.
