TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The Central Weather Administration (CWA) reported significant temperature drops across Taiwan, with the northeastern monsoon intensifying on Monday (Nov. 13). The coldest region was recorded at 15.3 degrees Celsius in the Yangmei District of Taoyuan.

Professor Wu Der-Romg from the National Central University (NCU) Atmospheric Sciences department cautioned that the next monsoon surge might bring temperatures comparable to a continental cold air mass, potentially reaching a record low of 11 degrees Celsius this year.

The CWA also warned of torrential rains in Yilan and Taipei, urging local areas to prepare for potential severe flooding. The ongoing rainfall heightens the risk of landslides and cave-ins in mountainous regions.

Clear skies are anticipated for three consecutive days starting Friday, following the arrival of continental highs. However, Professor Wu noted that some areas might experience drastic temperature changes, with a possible drop to 11 degrees Celsius within a day.

According to recent data from the CWA, a mild typhoon named "Jelawat" is expected to pass near Taiwan tomorrow morning as a tropical depression formed southwest of Guam. While the typhoon is currently not predicted to impact Taiwan directly, there remains significant uncertainty in its projected path.
