TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) legislator Wang Ting-yu took to Facebook on Wednesday (Nov. 8) to challenge the veracity of Taiwan People's Party presidential candidate Ko Wen-je's statements.
His attack followed Ko's denial of ever meeting Hsu Chun-ying, an honorary president of the Taiwanese New Immigrants Development Association, despite accusations to the contrary.
Wang criticized Ko for allegedly lying and planning to include Hsu on the TPP's legislator-at-large list, and yet, Ko publicly declared on Nov. 1 that he had never met Hsu, according to Wang's Facebook post.
Wang questioned the listing of an individual Ko claimed not to know, labeling it irresponsible behavior.
In his quest for clarity, Wang verified that Hsieh Li-Kung, former secretary-general of the TPP, had publicly stated that he introduced Hsu to Ko at the end of last year and early this year.
Strengthening his argument, Wang claimed Ko did indeed meet Hsu at an event held on Dec. 21, 2019, where Ko attended as mayor.
Ko has yet to respond to the allegations.
