TAIPEI (TVBS News) — As Chinese President Xi Jinping and U.S. President Joe Biden prepare to meet in San Francisco in November, Taiwan's Foreign Minister Joseph Wu said on Thursday (Nov. 2) that the island nation is closely watching the developments.

In a discussion earlier that day with the Foreign and Overseas Compatriot Affairs Committee, Wu highlighted Taiwan's awareness of the upcoming Biden-Xi rendezvous, stating, "The United States has always kept us informed regarding high-level talks."

Wu also commented on the ongoing conflicts in Ukraine and the Middle East, emphasizing the importance for Taiwan to understand its position amidst the global unrest.

The White House had confirmed earlier that the leaders of the U.S. and China would meet on the margins of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit in San Francisco, taking place from November 15 to 17. This visit marks Xi's first trip to the U.S. in six years.

Taiwan's President Tsai Ing-wen has again appointed Morris Chang, founder of TSMC, as her envoy for the Economic Leaders' Meeting. Wu indicated that plans are underway for a potential meeting between Chang and Biden.
