HSINCHU (TVBS News) — Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) presidential candidate Lai Ching-te stated on Sunday (Oct. 29) that the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) is the most eager to see a "Blue-White Collaboration" in Taiwan.
Lai stated that the CCP would hope for a "Blue-White Collaboration" between the Kuomintang (KMT), the Blue camp, and the Taiwan People's Party (TPP), the White camp, to be successful, as Beijing aims to foster a pro-China regime in Taiwan to facilitate annexation.
Lai described multiple instances of China's alleged interference in Taiwan, including threats, disinformation campaigns via short video clips, fake news, and attempts to influence the voting behavior of Taiwanese business people.
Lai reiterated that the DPP would not accept the One China Principle (一中原則) or the 1992 Consensus (九二共識), nor would they negotiate a service trade agreement based on the One China principle or a peace agreement that may lead Taiwan down the same path as Tibet.
With less than a month until the presidential and vice-presidential candidates' registration deadline, the Blue-White alliance has entered the party negotiation phase, generating considerable public interest in the potential collaboration's success.
