TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The Double Ninth Festival, which falls on Monday (Oct. 23) this year, brings special respect and benefits to elderly Taiwanese.
Nationwide, individuals aged 65 and above will receive complimentary rides on the Taipei MRT and Maokong Gondola upon presenting the electronic elderly ticket issued by their respective city.
This concessionary measure applies to Taipei-registered indigenous citizens aged 55 and above.
For those who do not have an electronic ticket, free single-trip tickets can be obtained at the customer service counter at each station by providing relevant identification documents.
Double Ninth Festival, traditionally a day for climbing heights and looking into the distance, offers the elderly an opportunity to take advantage of these discounts.
They can either travel on the MRT or stroll in the Maokong area via the gondola, enjoying the scenic views along the route and the magnificent Taipei Basin.
