TAIPEI (TVBS News) — NVIDIA founder and CEO Jensen Huang and Foxconn Chairman Young Liu announced plans on Wednesday (Oct. 18) to deepen collaboration in artificial intelligence (AI) and vehicle technology via an "AI factory."
Speaking at the annual Hon Hai Tech Day, Huang made his first appearance at the event by making a grand entrance with Liu in Foxconn's newest electric vehicle (EV), MODEL B.
In his opening remark, Huang revealed a personally drawn illustration of an AI factory, highlighting the crucial role of algorithms and data in the upcoming generative AI revolution.
"This AI factory takes raw material in, which is called data, processes it in AI supercomputer, running the AI neural network model, and produces intelligence," the 'AI godfather' shared.
"There will be smart factories that build cars and AIs," he noted, "These two factories will be complement of each other - continuously running, continuously creating value." Huang further announced the expansion of the partnership in these two areas.
"We are building these factories together — NVIDIA and Foxconn are building all this together," said Liu, marking another milestone of the strategic partnership to develop automated driving vehicle platform technologies since January 2023.
"In the future, every industry and company will have AI factories," Huang highlighted with excitement.
Stressing Foxconn's goal to convert from manufacturing services to platform solutions, Liu shared the three areas the company focuses on: smart city, smart manufacturing, and smart EVs.
This event marked another quick visit to Taiwan by Huang, whose sight at the Hon Hai Tech Day was his only public appearance on this trip.
