TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taipei City Mayor Chiang Wan-an announced on Saturday (Oct. 14) that the city government will communicate with the Ministry of Culture to allocate NT$190 million in unsettled project funds for the Taipei Music Center.

Chiang explained that the ministry commissioned the music center to the local city government.

"The previous city administration left behind a mediation fund of NT$190 million," Chiang said. He added, "We'll continue communicating with the ministry actively."

Lin Yen-Feng, a Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Taipei City councilor, accused the mayor of changing tactics in response to Kuomintang's (KMT) alliance with Taiwan People's Party's (TPP) Ko Wen-je, the then Taipei mayor.

She expressed suspicions that the change of focus from the previous mayor to the ministry comes as an attempt to get a satisfactory result from alliance talks with Ko.

Lin also revealed Tsai Shih-Ping, the Director of Taipei City's Department of Cultural Affairs, said on Wednesday (Oct. 11) that they would seek legal recourse if the ministry did not provide funding.

The ministry responded that the best course of action would be to do everything according to the law.
