TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Kuomintang (KMT) presidential candidate Hou Yu-ih's campaign manager, King Pu-tsung, hinted on Monday (Oct. 2) at discussions on an eventual collaboration between the KMT and the Taiwan People's Party (TPP) in the 2024 presidential election.
The discussions are reportedly overseen by KMT Chairman Eric Chu.
King highlighted he has no objection to the so-called "Blue and White collaboration," provided both parties maintain goodwill and acceptance of each other in public opinion polls.
King also pointed out Hou's campaign office shares the same position with the KMT Central Standing Committee on this issue.
King believes that the KMT should adhere to its party standards and actively boost its approval ratings in order to gain a better bargaining position.
During the interview, he emphasized that "timing is crucial," necessitating a wait until there is a cooperative intention between both parties.
Only when the prospect of success is anticipated can any move be made, according to King. His comments could suggest potential future shifts in Taiwan's political landscape.
