TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taiwan's President Lai Ching-te (賴清德) delivered his first National Day speech on Thursday (Oct. 10), reaffirming Taiwan's commitment to global prosperity, progress, and welfare despite the country's limited international recognition.

Lai also advocated for dignified and orderly cross-strait dialogue, underscoring four key commitments: defending sovereignty, maintaining the status quo, ensuring respectful cross-strait exchanges, and upholding democracy and freedom.
