TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taiwan Transportation Safety Board Chairman Lin Shinn-der announced Monday (April 22) that the board has initiated its first investigation into an electric vehicle accident.

The board is also gathering information on five similar cases involving electric vehicles equipped with "advanced driver assistance systems" colliding with attenuator trucks.

The cases will be investigated from three angles: driver operation, vehicle-related issues, and whether preventive measures were adequately implemented. The board said it plans to release a factual data report on the electric vehicle collision in July this year, with the final investigation report expected to be completed by May next year.

In addition, the board has been investigating an incident involving a Taichung MRT train colliding with a construction crane arm, resulting in one death and 15 injuries. A factual data report was released in November last year, and the final investigation report is due in May this year.
