TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The Taipei City Department of Information and Tourism announced on Wednesday (April 10) the launch of the city's second double-decker dining bus. Deputy Mayor Lin Yi-hua expressed optimism that the new bus would have a positive spillover effect on the recovering tourism industry.

Lin recalled the launch of the first double-decker dining bus in December 2021, which faced significant challenges due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite these hurdles, the bus has attracted approximately 39,000 visitors, with foreign tourists making up about 30% of the total.

Commissioner Wang Chiu-tung noted that double-decker dining buses are a unique feature in only a few cities worldwide, including Paris, Bangkok, Tokyo, Osaka, and Taipei. Wang also hinted at the possibility of introducing dining buses with different routes to attract more tourists.

The second dining bus operates on a reservation-only basis. The dining experience lasts approximately 1.5 hours. The menu, crafted by the Regent Taipei, features the hotel's beef noodles for lunch, exquisite French desserts for afternoon tea, and a star-rated feast designed by the head chef for dinner. Prices range from NT$1,100 to NT$1,950.
