Medical tycoon donates equipment to boost rescue team (TVBS News)
TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The chairman of a prominent medical group made a generous donation of equipment valued at millions to support the National Fire Agency's Special Search and Rescue Team, according to reports on Wednesday (Jan. 24)
Chang Ju-shan's motivation for this donation stems from his admiration for the team's exceptional efforts during an international humanitarian mission in Türkiye last year following an earthquake. Touched by their dedication, he is determined to enhance the team's mission capabilities through his contribution.
The donated rescue equipment, with a total value of NT$12.5 million, includes life detectors, drones, and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) training devices, among other essential supplies.
In addition to the equipment, Chang has also provided two search and rescue puppies, covering all expenses for their training. Once certified, these dogs will become valuable additions to the Special Search and Rescue team.
Chang, an advocate for the welfare of Taiwanese citizens, views this donation as a symbol of the collective commitment required to support a crucial cause.
He hopes that this contribution will bolster the effectiveness and confidence of Taiwan's Special Search and Rescue team, enabling the acquisition of advanced rescue tools and strengthening Taiwan's role in international humanitarian relief efforts.
