TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The Central Weather Administration (CWA) issued a low-temperature alert on Monday (Jan. 22), warning nine counties north of Miaoli could experience temperatures below six degrees Celsius.
The weather agency also projected that temperatures in Taichung City, Changhua County, Yilan County, and Hualien County could fall to 10 degrees and below, with the probability of similar dips in the Yunlin-Chiayi-Tainan region.
The CWA confirmed that the wave of cold weather affecting all of Taiwan is expected to persist from Jan. 22 through Jan. 24.
The CWA has designated New Taipei City, Keelung City, Taipei City, Taoyuan City, Hsinchu City, Hsinchu County, Miaoli County, and Kinmen County with orange signals (very cold), indicating a likelihood of temperatures lower than six degrees.
The weather administration urged citizens to take necessary steps to keep warm during the frosty weather. It stressed the importance of maintaining proper indoor ventilation and electrical safety when using gas water heaters and electric heaters.
