TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taiwan's much-anticipated Eslite Songyan bookstore is all set for a grand opening on Saturday (Jan. 20). This 24-hour literary haven is poised to fill the void left by the closure of the Xinyi branch on last year's Christmas Eve, offering a fresh and innovative experience for book enthusiasts.
The revamped Songyan store has significantly expanded its collection, now boasting over 100,000 books, matching the volume of the chain's pioneering Dunnan branch, which closed in mid-2020.
The new Songyan store also introduces various specialized sections, such as the "Eslite Music Hall" for music aficionados, the "Eslite Children's Pavilion" where young visitors can paint on expansive graffiti walls, and the "Eslite Stationary Shop" catering to those with a penchant for stationery.
Eslite Chairperson Mercy Wu explained the decision to select the Songyan location over the widely expected Nanxi store, saying, "Songyan store's location is impeccable, situated in the commercial district near Taipei Dome, poised to draw visitors from the East District and the Xinyi District."
Preserving the spirit of Eslite Xinyi's unique blend of diverse books, cultural experiences, and a welcoming ambiance, the Songyan store stands as a testament to Eslite's commitment to delivering an exceptional literary journey, solidifying its status as a globally recognized icon among bookstores.
