KMT candidate slams foreign influence in Taiwan election (TVBS News)
TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Kuomintang (KMT) candidate Hou Yu-ih expressed his disapproval of foreign influence in Taiwan's elections on Saturday's (Dec. 30).
Speaking during the presidential debate, Hou highlighted cases where individuals have faced legal action due to the Anti-Infiltration Act and criticized the prospect of the judiciary being used as a political tool.
When questioned about China's interference in the elections, Hou accused Chao Tien-lin, a Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) legislator, of pro-China bias without legal repercussions.
He also mentioned Lai Ching-te's 2017 visit to mainland China, hinting at a possible undisclosed reception from the Chinese authorities.
Hou questioned the DPP's double standards and openly scrutinized Lai during the debate, demanding their thoughts on the U.S.' disapproval of Taiwan's independence.
He further challenged Lai's position, labeling him as a "pragmatic worker of Taiwan independence."
