PLA aircraft, vessels, balloon operate near Taiwan: MND (TVBS News)
TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The Ministry of National Defense reported on Tuesday (Dec. 26) the detection of eight People's Liberation Army (PLA) aircraft and five PLA vessels operating in the Taiwan Strait from 6 a.m. Dec. 25 to 6 a.m. Dec. 26.
Three aircraft, including a Y-8 anti-submarine warfare aircraft, a Y-8 tactical reconnaissance aircraft, and a KJ-500 airborne early warning & control aircraft, entered Taiwan's southwestern air defense identification zone.
Also, a PLA balloon crossed the strait median line and vanished northwest of Keelung at approximately 26,000 feet. The ministry reportedly used CAP Aircraft, navy vessels, and land-based missile systems to monitor and respond to these activities.
