Former DPP councilor face charges in Gou

TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The Taiwan Taoyuan District Prosecutors Office (TYC) indicted former Taoyuan City councilor Kuo Li-hua of the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) and her assistant Liu Tsai-jou on Thursday (Dec. 21).

Both have been summoned on charges of acquiring private information to support Foxconn founder Terry Gou during his independent presidential campaign.

In October, allegations arose regarding Gou's campaign stations' purchase of personal data. The TYC indictment alleges that Kuo, under Liu's direction, obtained 325 blank endorsement forms on six separate occasions, totaling NT$88,400 in transactions.

In response, Liu instructed six individuals to purchase endorsement forms at NT$300 each, starting on Oct. 12. Law enforcement officials seized crucial evidence on Oct. 23, including endorsement registers and text messages exchanged between Liu and Kuo.

Despite her denial, the TYC asserted that Kuo, Liu, and six others had committed the crime and were formally prosecuted. The TYC also sought a harsher sentence for Kuo due to her belligerent behavior after the offense.
