U.S. arms sale bolsters Taiwan‘s defense: Presidential Office
TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taiwan's Presidential Office expressed gratitude on Saturday (Dec. 16) for the United States' commitment to the island's security, in accordance with the Taiwan Relations Act and the Six Assurances.
Presidential Office spokesperson Lin Yu-chan highlighted the U.S. government's announcement of a new US$300 million arms sale to Taiwan as a clear indication of the American administration's attention to Taiwan's defense needs.
"Taiwan, situated at the forefront of the democratic line of defense, will continue to enhance our national defense autonomy as well as uphold our values of democracy and freedom," said Lin.
She also stated that the move is set to deepen the U.S.-Taiwan security partnership and strengthen cooperation with like-minded countries to ensure peace, stability, and prosperous development in the Taiwan Strait and the Indo-Pacific region.
