Hou Yi-ih rallies 50,000 in Hualien with Ma Ying-jeou (TVBS News)
TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Kuomintang (KMT) presidential candidate Hou Yi-ih and running mate Jaw Shaw-kong held a large rally in Hualien on Sunday (Dec. 10), drawing thousands of attendees, including former President Ma Ying-jeou.
The event, organized by KMT Legislator Fu Kun-chi, reportedly saw the participation of around 50,000 people.
During the rally, Hou emphasized his commitment to improving local infrastructure and criticized the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) and its vice presidential candidate Hsiao Bi-khim for opposing the island-wide rapid broadband project.
KMT Chairman Eric Chu praised the scale of the gathering, stating, "Hualien has shown unprecedented unity today in our history."
Fu's collaboration with Ma at the event marked a significant turnaround, given Fu had earlier hinted at Ma's role in the party's past electoral defeats. Their public cooperation signals a reconciled front heading into the election.
