TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taiwan People's Party (TPP) presidential candidate Ko Wen-je claimed on Monday (Nov. 27) that an individual professing to be an aide to a U.S. senator offered him a substantial bribe of NT$200 million to run as a vice-presidential candidate.

During a radio interview, Ko stated that a few months ago, a person who identified as an assistant to a senator from Alaska indicated that American Institute in Taiwan (AIT) Chairperson Laura Rosenberger was keen to speak with him.

Ko further revealed that in the days leading up to his presidential registration, he encountered various individuals pitching deceptive narratives, including someone claiming to be a United Nations commissioner and former U.S. Congressional aide, who suggested that the U.S. was in favor of a coalition between the Kuomintang (KMT) and TPP.

As Taiwan's presidential election draws near, Ko voiced concerns over the prevalence of intermediaries and fraudsters attempting to meddle in the elections, advocating for a clear-headed approach to combat misinformation.
