DPP Lai narrowly leads KMT Hou in latest Taiwan poll (TVBS News)
TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Formosa Magazine's latest poll, released on Friday (Nov. 24) shows a tight presidential race in Taiwan, with Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) candidate Lai Ching-te slightly ahead of Kuomintang (KMT) rival Hou Yu-ih.
Lai is polling at 31.4%, narrowly leading over Hou's 31.1%. Taiwan People's Party (TPP) candidate Ko Wen-je is at 25.2%, illustrating a close contest. The mere 0.3% gap between Lai and Hou highlights the election's competitiveness.
The poll reflects a potential shift in political power: 27.8% support the DPP, 26.8% favor the KMT, and 16.5% back the TPP, with 2.9% for an independent candidate.
DPP sources have observed increased polling activity, attributing it to active mobilization by the KMT and TPP, leading to unusually high declared rates of around 90%.
Conducted from Nov. 21-23 using Computer Assisted Telephone Interviewing (CATI), the poll included 1,331 respondents, depicting a fiercely contested election with a divided electorate.
