Three military vessels showcase Taiwan’s defense power (TVBS News)
TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The Navy's 2023 National Defense Intellectual Tour commenced on Saturday (Nov. 11) at Xinbin Camp in Kaohsiung City's Gushan District. It marked the debut of three military vessels open to the public, showcasing Taiwan's robust defense capabilities.
The Yushan-class ship, with a substantial 10,000-ton displacement, demonstrated its capacity to carry fully equipped Marines, complete with amphibious landing craft, assault vehicles, armored vehicles, and helipads. Key features of the Yushan-class ship include a spacious command center and top-notch medical facilities.
The ROCS Ta Chiang, another vessel on exhibition, boasts impressive stealth attributes and a swift 732-ton displacement. Its design incorporates a twin-hull structure armed with formidable Hsiung Feng II and III anti-ship missile systems, complemented by the Phalanx Close-In Weapon System.
The Min Jiang-class minelayer, a swift and precise mine-laying vessel, excels in navigation and positioning, capable of deploying mines of various types and grades.
This event offered a glimpse into Taiwan's modern naval capabilities and ongoing efforts to fortify national defense.
