TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taiwan continues to endure conditions from the northeast monsoon on Sunday (Oct. 29), with windward areas across the north and east experiencing sporadic rainfall, according to the Central Weather Administration (CWA).

While scattered showers are present in the southern regions, higher chances of rain are expected in the afternoons and areas close to the mountains.

The central parts of Taiwan are mostly cloudy, with brief, patchy rainfall in the mountainous regions in the afternoon.

Areas north of Taoyuan and in Yilan and Hualien remain slightly chilly, with maximum temperatures ranging from 23-25 degrees Celsius. In contrast, other regions could witness temperatures between 27-30 degrees, marking a significant difference in temperature between the north and south.

For the upcoming days, the CWA forecasted that the effects of the northeast monsoon will bring brief, localized rainfall to areas north of Taoyuan and the eastern regions on Monday and Tuesday.

The monsoon is expected to weaken on Wednesday, with rainfall dwindling in scale. However, the Greater Taipei Area, eastern regions, and the Hengchun Peninsula may still experience brief showers.
