TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taiwan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) on Tuesday (Oct. 10) dismissed allegations by a Taiwanese traveler stranded in Israel who accused the ministry as unsympathetic.

The ministry highlighted its commitment to helping travelers return home amidst the threats of conflict in the region, expressing regret over baseless allegations that adversely impact the morale of their personnel.

The traveler, seeking to change his flight date, claimed he received no aid from his airline. Subsequently, he approached the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Tel Aviv. However, he deemed their advice to book a ticket online himself as unsympathetic.

In response, MOFA clarified its position, expressing regret and disappointment towards unverified statements tarnishing their overseas personnel.

The ministry reiterated its attempts to help the traveler in distress, clarifying that online booking by the traveler was necessary due to the requirement of confidential information, like personal credit card details.

Additionally, the personnel checked whether the individual needed further assistance, to which the traveler responded that there were no other matters at that moment.
