TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The latest poll conducted by United Daily News reveals that Lai Ching-te, the candidate of the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP), is still in the lead with 30% of the votes in the presidential race.

Kuomintang (KMT) candidate Hou Yu-ih has witnessed a gradual decline in his support over the past five months.

In the meantime, Ko Wen-je, the candidate of Taiwan People's Party (TPP), and Hou are competing for the second position. As per the poll results, Ko has secured 21% support, while Hou lags behind with only 20%. Hou's support has dropped from 29% at the end of April to merely 20% now.

As the 2024 Presidential Election approaches, Terry Gou's potential candidacy as an independent presidential candidate has everyone's attention.

This could lead to shifts in the current standing, and Ko Wen-je could be the most affected if Gou decides to join the race.

The poll was conducted between Sept. 22 and 25, interviewing 1,082 adults. However, 339 individuals refused to participate.
