TAICHUNG (TVBS News) — A 33-hour water suspension will take place in Taichung from 9 a.m. next Tuesday (Sept. 19) till 6 p.m. on Wednesday (Sept. 20).
The 4th District management office of Taiwan Water Corporation is scheduling the cut-off to cooperate with the Taichung City Maintenance Office for pipeline relocation.
Residents affected, approximately 256,998 households span the Beitun, North, Central, West, East, South, Nantun, Xitun, Daya, and Tanzi Districts. An estimated 45,269 households in the Nantun, Xitun, Beitun, and Tanzi Districts will experience a drop in water pressure.
Taichung City's Economic Development Bureau is working with Taiwan Water Corporation to monitor the project's progress and restoration through an online reporting platform. It recommends that residents turn off their water pumps during the suspension and quickly release air when water is restored to prevent blockages.
Easing the restoration process, the bureau advises that the water levels of buildings, user reservoirs, and water towers must be replenished. Areas where pipelines terminate, and alleyways will have a delayed water restoration.
For citizens' convenience, 51 temporary water collection points will be set up by the 4th District management office of the Taiwan Water Corporation.
Residents may dial 1910 or follow Taiwan Water Corporation's official LINE account for free updates on the water outage and restoration status.
