TAITUNG (TVBS News) — Following several typhoons' devastating impact on Taiwan's eastern region, Taiwan's Central Emergency Operation Center and the Kaohsiung City government dispatched a task force to Taitung on Wednesday (Sept. 6) that included 100 workers and a fleet of 40 vehicles.

CEOC Director Lin Yu-chang said Premier Chen Chien-jen had personally visited the impacted area and pledged national support.

He has instructed all necessary means to be mobilized, including manpower and machinery from the armed forces and other regions.

Responding to Taitung's appeal, the CEOC coordinated with the Kaohsiung City government once again to dispatch further manpower and equipment.

The task force was led personally by Chang Jui-hun, Director of the Kaohsiung City Environmental Protection Bureau.

The CEOC, working with Taiwan's armed forces, has deployed over 41 additional vehicles and 392 personnel for disaster relief efforts in Taitung County over the past two days.

Aid and recovery initiatives continue with the central government's unwavering commitment to provide all necessary assistance to the afflicted region.
