TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Early Friday morning (Aug. 25), an explosion was reported at the electrical substation of Taipei MRT's Nangang Depot, injuring two personnel.
The suspected electric shock left two workers on site with burns, but both were conscious following the incident.
They were rushed to the Tri-Service General Hospital for emergency treatment. The Taipei Mass Rapid Transit Corporation (Taipei MRTC) disclosed that the two technicians were injured in an electrocution accident at 2:58 a.m.
The conditions of the workers are stable, and the incident will not affect the depot's operations for the day, authorities reported. The substation was undergoing routine high-voltage switch maintenance when the accident took place.
The Taipei MRTC has stated it will cooperate fully with labor inspections to investigate the cause of the electric shock incident, explaining why the electrical workers were injured during maintenance operations.
