TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Business tycoon Terry Gou was heckled during his speech at the Kinmen County Council on Wednesday (Aug. 23) when representatives of the Taiwan Statebuilding Party accused him of selling out Taiwan.

Gou retorted by suggesting that if he is thought to be undermining Taiwan, then President Tsai Ing-wen should terminate the Economic Cooperation Framework Agreement (ECFA) agreement in Kinmen and declare Taiwan's independence.

The Foxconn founder also pointed out the enormous trade surplus Taiwan has accrued through ECFA, illustrating his point of peaceful. cross-strait communications and collaborations.

Despite the verbal confrontations at the event, Gou encouraged the public to instead focus on the 'Kinmen Peace Declaration' and the 'Kinmen Peace Initiative'.

His future political plans, including a possible run in the 2024 presidential election, is something that he plans to disclose in the not-so-distant future.
