TAIPEI (TVBS News) — China's Fuzhou Maritime Safety Administration issued a navigation warning on Wednesday (Aug. 23), indicating that an artillery unit will conduct a live-fire drill in the next two days.

The warning, titled "20230824 Military Live-fire Drill," was published on the administration's official website on Tuesday.

The exercise will take place in the Jiangyin region of Fuqing city, Fuzhou, from Aug. 24 to 25, daily between 7 am and 8 pm local time. The precise coordinates of the shooting warning zone have also been listed on website.

In the notice, the administration strongly emphasized that, to ensure safety, non-related vessels are prohibited from entering the warning area.

The drills came at a pointed time as many Taiwanese officials headed to Taiwan's Kinmen island to commemorate the 823 Artillery Bombardment.

This drill also comes in the wake of Taiwan's Vice President Lai Ching-te's transit through the United States when China announced on Aug. 19 that it would hold military exercises in response to this act.
