TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Former Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) deputy secretary-general Lin Fei-fan was reportedly given a position to become the deputy executive director of the Taiwan Foundation for Democracy (TFD), according to Huang Yang-ming, an Internet celebrity.
The position allegedly comes with a monthly salary of up to NT$110,000.
The TFD released a statement later that day, stating Lin has been one of the board members, and has contributed significantly to the foundation in promoting democracy and human rights in Taiwan.
However, the foundation refuted the news, and clarified that Lin has not been approached officially about this position. As per usual protocol, the foundation will make an announcement if there are any staffing changes.
According to the foundation's public information, the monthly salary for the deputy executive director position is over NT$110,000, which is higher than the NT$90,000 package Lin was given during his time as the DPP's deputy secretary-general.
Lin, a prominent Taiwanese activist, was known for his leadership in the Sunflower Student Movement in 2014, but dropped out of the legislative election race in mid-June, due to his previous mishandling of a sexual harassment case within the ruling party.
