TAIPEI (TVBS News) — China's People's Liberation Army (PLA) Eastern Theater Command released a propaganda video titled "Guardian III" on Sunday (Aug. 20), likening itself to the deity Mazu while maintaining an "anti-secession" stance to guard the Taiwan Strait.

The video, which includes images of Taiwanese athletes and buildings, issued a warning of "One China" as inviolable and was posted on Xinhua.net.

The video employed the symbol of Mazu, using panoramic views from Xiangshan (Elephant Mountain) overlooking Taipei 101 to narrate its anti-secession standpoint.

The video also referred to Taiwan's President Tsai Ing-wen and Vice President Lai Ching-te as "conspirators" and the "ambitious."

Images of tennis champion Hsieh Su-wei at the French Open and Liao Yi-jen hoisting the flag at the Universiade were also included.

The video concluded with a quote: "I want to see what's on the other side of the strait!"

On Aug. 21, Taiwan's Ministry of National Defense issued a video response criticizing the Chinese army for neglecting the spirit symbolized by Mazu.

The ministry's video emphasized the Taiwan military's readiness and commitment to self-defense against threats to regional peace from the PLA, underlining its fearlessness in the face of challenges.
