TAICHUNG (TVBS News) — Taiwan's Air Force Thunder Tiger Aerobatics Team took to the skies on Friday (Aug. 10) to showcase their flight skills in preparation for the Ching Chuan Kang (CCK) Air Base Aviation Carnival slated the next day.

After a 7-year hiatus, the aviation demonstrations have become a captivating subject for military enthusiasts. Despite their impressive performances, the pilots at the controls that day have undergone training for only six months to a year.

"Our experienced Thunder Tiger instructors will guide them to a simulator, instructing them in landing and map analysis, focusing on landmarks,"  Thunder Tiger Aerobatics Team Leader Yang Chih-ping explained.

"The subjects remain identical; only the destination differs."

Moreover, for the first time, T-BE5A Brave Eagle jets will grace the skies in a V formation, serving as the grand finale. The debut of these jets at the event will symbolize the next generation of domestic aircraft in aerobatics, holding significant implications.

Anti-aircraft defense weapons, including the MIM-104 Patriot and Tien-Kung (Sky Bow) III missile systems, will be on display for the occasion. Mirage 2000 jets will also make an appearance.

"In this year's event, we aim to enhance audience interaction by building upon previous demonstrations," Mirage 2000 Instructor Li Chien-hao said.

As the significant event draws near, Air Force instructors and pilots have expressed their excitement, working diligently to hone their skills.

Beyond providing entertainment, the aviation event serves as an opportunity for Taiwan to showcase its combat readiness and dedication to defending the nation.
