Ministry of Agriculture inauguration slated for August (TVBS News)
TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Executive Yuan Spokesperson Lin Tzu-lun announced on Friday (July 28) that Minister Chen Chi-chung of the Council of Agriculture, Executive Yuan, will become the first Minister of Agriculture on Tuesday (Aug. 1).
In a significant move, Hsueh Fu-sheng, president of National Chung Hsing University, will also become the first minister of the environment on Aug. 22, taking over from Minister Chang Tzi-chin of the Environmental Protection Administration. The latter will be transitioning to the position of Minister without Portfolio.
Hsueh holds a Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering from Cornell University in the United States. His extensive experience includes serving as the dean of the College of Engineering, director of Research and Development, and director of the Materials Science and Engineering Department at National Chung Hsing University, among other positions.
With global climate change in focus, Taiwan is committed to advancing sustainable environmental and energy policies. Premier Chen Chien-jen expressed his expectations that Hsueh Fu-sheng will lead Taiwan's efforts toward achieving net-zero emissions and refining carbon management mechanisms.
