NEW TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Foxconn founder Terry Gou, dressed in military attire, visited the Chengsheng Temple in Luzhu District, Taoyuan City, on Friday (July 28) to pay homage to the Holy Emperor Guan.
During his visit, Gou shared that the purpose of his upcoming trip to the United States is to "convince the Hawkish and ask them not to turn Taiwan into Ukraine," while stressing the economic and technological strength of the nation.
"Our people have different voices. Taiwanese need peace, not war. That is the message I am sending," he told reporters before raising his right hand and saluting the soldiers several times.
Gou explained that he wore the military uniform as a sign of respect for the soldiers who participated in the annual Han Kuang exercises, as the temple was one of the locations for the week-long military simulation of enemy attacks.
Earlier in the morning, Gou was warmly welcomed by a crowd of supporters upon arriving at the temple. They addressed him as "President" and requested autographs on their clothes.
"War is ruthless, and peace is priceless," Gou reiterated his "Kinmen Peace Declaration" proposal, emphasizing the criticality of maintaining peace in the Taiwan Strait to bring economic prosperity and stability for future generations in Taiwan.
