BANGKOK (TVBS News) — Taiwan-based Core Pacific Development Corporation has celebrated a double win at the International Property Awards (IPA) for its award-winning eco-commercial building, Core Pacific Plaza in Songshan District., Taipei City.
The 30-year-long IPA is known as the "Oscars of Real Estate," aiming to celebrate outstanding residential and commercial property worldwide. Both the chairman of the Core Pacific Group, Sheen Ching-jing, and the principal architect of C.Y. Lee & Partners Architects / Planners, C.Y. Lee, attended this year's award ceremony in Bangkok, Thailand, on May 31.
Addressing the Taiwan government's commitment to reach net-zero emissions by 2050, Sheen expressed gratitude for IPA's recognition and believed in the possibility of "achieving net-zero emissions before 2050."
"Beyond winning awards, my true hope is to witness new architecture in Asia making adjustments like planting trees at higher levels and exploring creative designs to combat climate change."
Core Pacific Plaza is the first office park to feature tree-lined balconies on every floor in Taiwan, including four buildings with 19 floors and seven underground levels, three floating island gardens, and a vertical forest garden. The eco-building has won the "Best Commercial High Rise Development" and "Best Mixed Use Development" awards.
The Taiwanese construction company's previous eco-building project, a residential high-rise in Taipei, Tao Zhu Yin Yuan, has become a sustainable architectural landmark, absorbing approximately 130 tons of CO2 emissions annually, equivalent to the emissions of nearly 28 cars.
Sheen emphasized his wish to invite more architecture in Asia to combat climate change and lower carbon emissions by "making adjustments like planting trees at higher levels and exploring creative designs."
