TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The Central Weather Bureau (CWB) anticipates heavy rainfall in western and northeastern Taiwan this weekend due to the approach of a "plum rain" front.

Earlier today, the CWB issued a heavy rain advisory for Hsinchu County, Hsinchu City, Taoyuan City, and Miaoli County.

The frontal system has already brought significant precipitation to Taoyuan, Hsinchu, and Miaoli.

Yesterday evening, these regions experienced intense thunderstorms, resulting in power outages. However, as of this morning, the Taiwan Power Company (Taipower) has successfully restored power to all affected areas.

Over the weekend, rainfalls will gradually move southward. It is worth noting that although the second typhoon of the year, "Mawar," may form tomorrow night, it is not expected to impact Taiwan.

Currently, the frontal system encompasses most parts of Taiwan, leading to intermittent rainfall and thundershowers in the western and northeastern regions.

Throughout the day, both the northern and central regions must exercise caution against the possibility of heavy thunderstorms. Preparing for strong gusts of wind and potential flooding in low-lying areas and on roads is advisable.
