NEW TAIPEI (TVBS News) — During a New Taipei City Council session on Wednesday (May 10), Democratic Progressive Party's (DPP) city councilors bombarded Mayor Hou You-yi with questions, giving him little time to respond.
Regarding the COVID-19 vaccine dispute, on the other hand, Hou criticized the Tsai government's handling of Taiwan's COVID-19 vaccine procurement process and thanked TSMC, Tzu Chi, and Terry Guo for helping the situation.
"The government's inability to purchase vaccines left its people in a difficult situation," Hou said.
Then, during the City Councilor City Council session, Cho Kuan-ting asked, "Have you heard about the 2018 South Korea Nth Room case? Do you know what the Nth Room case is?"
Cho asked the mayor to comment on a recent report of a woman in New Taipei who committed suicide after being raped in a case and a minor who was forced to shoot inappropriate photos and videos that "could have some similarities" with the case in South Korea.
Cho then pressed the mayor to solve the cases as soon as possible.
The Nth Room case is a sexual abuse case in South Korea that involved blackmail, cybersex trafficking, and sexually exploitative videos via Telegram between 2018 and 2020.
